The Digital Learning team at Falmouth University are dedicated to guiding and supporting you in your use of technology and good practice in relation to learning and teaching. Whether you’re new to Falmouth or need to update your online learning materials and review your module structure we can advise on best practice when using Learning Space for undergraduate modular teaching.  

Our Digital Learning team of Designers, Technologists, Resource Designers and Interns also work collaboratively with you to provide expert guidance and support with course content, creating accessible resources, course design and course build of fully online courses in Falmouth Online for post graduate students.  

Learning technologies provide opportunities for assessment, feedback, course design and development and the DL team work in partnership with you to create meaningful learning experiences for your students through collaborative projects. 

We make sure we’re available for one-to-one or group sessions at a time to suit you, usually via Teams or alternatively face to face or email.

 Amy Sampson   

Amy Sampson

Amy is passionate about creative arts education and has a wealth of experience spanning technical implementation, content production and online course development. She has helped shape Falmouth’s blended and fully online learning provision and enjoys the opportunities and challenges presented when practice based education and technology intersect. Amy holds an MA in Creative Education and fellowship of the HEA. She is a member and assessor for the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) and editorial board member for Advances in Online Education Journal. Amy reviews for the Journal of Learning Development in Higher Education (JLDHE) and the Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice (JUTLP).

 Pip Keyworth 

Amy SampsonPip has worked in digital marketing and experiences since 2010. With a background in paid and content marketing, Pip moved into strategy and account management before transferring to HE in 2019 taking up the role of Senior Web Editor at Falmouth University. Working on continuous improvement and project-based work in tandem, Pip has specialised in curating accessible, compliant and engaging digital experiences, ultimately moving into the role of Web Strategy Lead. Now she’s taking up a new challenge, using her skills to manage the production of high-quality online learning experiences within the Digital Learning Team at Falmouth.

Heather Boyd-Savidge – Senior LD

Working in HE since 2007 Heather has done a range of roles to support the student experience.  Prior to working at Falmouth Heather has worked as an Academic Developer leading a team of Learning Technologists. She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and has an MSc in Technology Enhanced Learning and is a CATE (Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence – Advance HE) award winner.

 

 

Catherine Hartell

Catherine joined Falmouth University in April 2023 as a Learning Designer. She has worked in further education and higher education within the field of digital learning as a Learning Technologist and has helped to develop projects giving students a voice on how they use technology and staff digital literacy development. Her interests are staff development and how technology can be used in an authentic way within teaching, learning and assessment.


Kenny McKenzie


Kenny joined the learning design team at the beginning of 2022. Kenny has worked in HE in a variety of roles including learning design, instructional design and media production. He is interested in transformative learning and integrating successful navigation through the transitions from socialized mind to self-authoring mind to self-transforming mind.

Dr Beth Sennett 


Beth joined Falmouth University in January 2022 as a Learning Designer. She has worked in education for over 22 years in a variety of roles, including primary school teacher, educational developer, lecturer and dyslexia specialist. With a passion for both inclusive and transformative education, Beth has a keen interest in Universal Design for Learning and Transformative Digital Pedagogy. 

Vicky Weavers 


With a background in quality enhancement and educational technology, Vicki is a qualified teacher with over 20 years’ experience of academic development in post compulsory education. Particular areas of professional interest are playful approaches to learning using digital media, and the potential for immersive environments to benefit learning and reduce our carbon footprint.

Rob Stillwell  Senior Learning Technologist

Rob Stillwell

Rob joined the team at Falmouth in 2021. He has over 15 years experience working in HE in various learning technology roles. He was a key part of the award-winning learning technologist team of the year in 2014 in Plymouth where they transformed the learning systems at the university over a 2-year period. 

 

Hamish Adams 

Prior to joining the Digital Learning Team, Hamish worked as an Educational Technologist for the School of Biological Sciences with the University of Cambridge and brings his rich experience in education, content creation, and technology to the role of Learning Technologist and maintains an encouraging and helpful attitude in the support of digital learning technologies at Falmouth University.

Sam Cole

Sam has worked in Learning Technology based roles since 2003 and started his career as an eLearning Environment Coordinator for the government-backed UKeU e-University project at the University of Southampton. He joined Falmouth in early 2020, bringing his experience to a similar role in the Digital Learning Team, supporting the University’s growing portfolio of Digital Learning tools and technologies.

 

Tracey Eaton 

Tracey joined the Falmouth Digital Learning Team in March 2023. She has worked in education for nineteen years, first as an ICT teacher, then for the past nine years as a Learning Technologist in HE. She is passionate about the use of digital technology to enhance learning and teaching.

 

Jemma Julian-Vicary


Jemma joined the Digital Learning team in February 2022 having previously worked for the Research & Development team at Falmouth for over ten years supporting all aspects of the Research Degree programme delivery. With over 15 years experience of working in HE, she is applying her skills and expertise to support the area of digital learning and associated learning management systems and tools at Falmouth.

Dominic Martiginetti 

Having worked in a number of technical roles in both further and higher education, Dominic now specialises in learning technology. Offering guidance, support, research and training in the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching at the University. Since 2019, Dominic has been a certified member of the Association for Learning Technology (CMALT).

Catherine Murray

As a Learning Technologist, Catherine works with academic staff offering guidance, support and training on learning technologies that enhance learning and teaching.Before joining the team in 2020, Catherine was a Graphic Designer working in a number of creative roles producing engaging digital content.

 

Roo Pescod

Roo has worked for Falmouth and Exeter Universities since 2009 across a wide range of professional services from student administration to employability, student mentoring to the library. He joined the Digital Learning team in January 2020 as a Learning Resource Designer and has worked as a Learning Technologist since March 2022.

 


David Pollard 


After careers as an English teacher and analyst/programmer, David worked at the universities of Exeter, Bristol, Birmingham, UCL and Aston in roles including research fellow, programmer, educational technologist, medical educationalist and teaching fellow. He joined Falmouth University in 2017 and his responsibilities include digital learning support and advice, assisting with department email queries, running workshops and data analysis.

Sarah Craig


Sarah has assisted the Digital Learning Team with Falmouth Online since 2021 and moved into the role of Learning Resource Designer in 2023. Prior to this role, her practice involved designing bespoke woven products and designs on a freelance basis.

Ana Ene


Ana worked in a Learning Technology role in the HE sector before joining the DL Team as a Learning Resource Designer in 2022. With a background in multimedia production and a passion to enable students to have an engaging experience through online learning, Ana works with academic staff offering guidance, support, and training on how to create accessible and engaging resources for students.

 

 

Dan Baker

Dan joined the DL Team as a Digital Transcription Intern in 2021. His role involves captioning content for a variety of Falmouth Online modules, checking for clarity, grammatical issues and other general readability issues. He also assists with accessible document creation and editing videos for other online programs such as Step Into Falmouth and the Guest Speaker Programme. Dan has a particular interest in establishing a practical guide to captioning to aid consistency and readability. 

 

Naomi Fielder

Naomi studied Games Development: Design at Falmouth University and is currently employed as a Digital Intern working on and supporting with the Video Hosting Project.
